How Does the FSS Program Work?

The FSS program helps build savings through an escrow account. As your earned income increases and you pay more in rent, a portion of that increase is deposited into a savings account that you’ll receive upon program completion.

Participants receive all accumulated funds in their escrow account upon successful completion of the program. The average savings can be more than $6,000, which can be used for any purpose such as creating an emergency fund, paying off debts, improving credit scores, or investing in education, a home, or a small business.

The program provides case management or coaching services to help you access resources needed to overcome barriers to employment, strengthen your financial capabilities, and address other challenges that might be holding you back from achieving your goals.

What is Resident Services?

The scope of Resident Services typically includes:

  1. Coordinating and implementing supportive service programs that help provide residents with better access to educational and employment opportunities.
  2. Facilitating workshops for senior services, educational services, often in partnership with community-based organizations that offer health and wellness, financial education, continuing education, fraud prevention, insurance navigation, rent rebates and more.
  3. Monitoring and evaluating the delivery and effectiveness of supportive services funded through various programs.

These services aim to improve residents’ quality of life, promote self-sufficiency, and create pathways to economic independence.

Our Resident Services also facilitate collaboration between our housing authority and residents, helping residents gain essential information from community partners about the improvements that need to be made for residents’ self-sufficiency needs.
