Statement from Executive Director Barbara Wilson regarding the Lancaster City Housing Authority’s Public Housing Waiting List:

At 8:00 AM on Monday, June 13th, 2022 the Lancaster City Housing Authority (LCHA) opened its Public Housing waiting list. Upon opening, the application site was inundated with submissions. The extremely high volume of applications received diminished the capacity of the website, which resulted in the application being offline and applicants receiving error messages. Due to this, we have decided to close the application processing system. We are working with our website host provider to further understand the complications and take corrective actions. Our staff is also diligently working to process the applications we did receive.

We appreciate your patience and thank you for your understanding as we wade through the thousands of submissions. We apologize for the inconvenience and hardship this may have caused. We understand the immense need for affordable housing in our community and will continue our efforts to preserve and develop housing opportunities in Lancaster City.

For those who are on our waitlist, please remember it is your responsibility to keep your information up to date with our agency.

Please report the following changes to your application as they occur:

• Change in mailing address

• Change in phone number

• Change in email address

• Change in family composition

Thank you for your interest in our housing programs and properties. To apply for either of our programs, you must complete an easy online application. We no longer accept paper applications.

You must complete the entire process for the application to be valid including the signature page. Once you have entered all of the required information, you will submit the application and then you will receive an email from [email protected] with the next steps that are required.

Your completed application will be held electronically on the waiting list. When your application is selected, we will contact you for more information and to complete the screening process.

We require that you keep your application up-to-date. If you cannot be reached at the mailing address and email address listed on your application, it will be withdrawn. Please report any of the above changes within ten (10) days as it is very important that your information is accurate and current.

Before you begin the application, make sure you know the names, social security numbers, and birth dates of all household members. You will also need to know your total gross monthly household income. Total income means all the money you and all members of your household receive each month from all sources. This includes income from a job, welfare, Social Security, SSI, pensions, support (voluntary or court ordered), interest income, etc. Gross income means the amount received before any deductions, such as taxes, etc.

The application can be completed on any PC, tablet, or smartphone.
